Damn. We were expecting something out of a redneck movie like "Smokey and the Bandit".
You know, tons of explosions and cops flying down Highway 16.
Turns out the story wasn't as glorious as we thought.
Traffic lanes reopened Tuesday morning on Highway 16 east of Elkins after hazmat crews cleaned diesel fuel off the road from a spill that happened when a stolen truck pulling a trailer with a tank of diesel fuel overturned.
One person has been arrested in the incident, officials said.
One lane was closed around 4 a.m. near McCord Road in Durham, said Sgt. Lynn Morgan of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. The truck overturned after the driver attempted to maneuver a trailer pulling the 500-gallon tank.
Morgan said crews were on scene for several hours.
Is there a black market for diesel fuel in NWA? We need to know this ASAP.
